The Attorney General National Mortgage Settlement has strong servicing standards, but we need to know if the standards are being followed. Housing counselors and legal services lawyers working directly with homeowners can provide their input.

Housing Counselors: The National Housing Resource Center is doing this survey jointly with the California Reinvestment Coalition. The survey takes about half an hour to complete.

Legal Services Lawyers: The National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) is surveying NACA attorneys and approved legal services attorneys to examine the progress of the State Attorneys General and federal government national mortgage settlement. NACA put together a survey for attorneys to identify and determine the extent and nature of violations.  NACA includes geographic and demographic data questions to measure fair lending compliance. NACA will launch an online and searchable database open to NACA members and approved legal services attorneys.  For more information regarding the NACA survey and the online database, please contact NACA’s Legislative Director at or at 202-452-1989.
