Our request for federal funding has officially reached more than 200 signatures representing local, regional, and national organizations from across the country. Our letter calls for support for funding both the HUD Housing Counseling Assistance Program and the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation’s National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program (NFMC) in the FY 2014 budget. We are also asking members of the House of Representatives to request funding for the HUD Housing Counseling Assistance Program at $87.5 million and the NFMC program at $80 million in their programmatic funding request to the Transportation-HUD appropriations subcommittee.
Aside from our written request, we would like to encourage you to call your local Congressional offices, especially Republicans in your area to ask your congress people to include housing counseling in their programmatic funding request letters to the Transportation and HUD Appropriations Subcommittee and ask for $87.5 million for HUD Housing Counseling and $80 million for NFMC. This is especially important for House Republicans.
Our official letter will be posted to the NHRC Materials page.
